Bakewar is a city located in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. It is sited at a distance of 31 km away form its district Headquarters Etawah, 22 km away form its Tehsil Headquarters Bharthana, 200 km away form the state capital Lucknow and 337 km away form the national capital Delhi. Bakewar is an important city that lies in between Agra and Kanpur. People from all religion and communities reside in Bakewar. Hindi and Urdu are the most spoken languages of the city. The city is very popular for its dairy plant where milk is collected and stored before it is been sent to a bigger dairy plant for the next level of processing.

Bakewar is elevated at a height of 142 meters above sea level which is about 466 feet and it has its coordinates at 26.67° North latitude and 79.18° East longitude. The city is bounded by Ajitmal Tehsil in the East, Chakarnagar Tehsil in the west, Bharthana Tehsil in the North and Achchalda Tehsil in the East. The city is located on the border of its district Etawah which makes Bakewar much closer to its neighboring district Auraiya towards its East. Summers are very hot and winters are pleasant in Bakewar. Maghai is a very popular pond in Bakewar with covers two third of the city area. River Yamuna and River Chambel run very close to the city.
